Asymptotic properties of Schur-Weyl duality

23 June 2017  at 17:00 a general meeting of AMU will take place with a talk of Prof. Sevak Mkrtchyan from the University of Rochester (USA): Asymptotic properties of Schur-Weyl duality.

Abstract: Vershik and Kerov in 1985 gave asymptotic bounds for the maximal and typical dimensions of the irreducible representations of the symmetric group. It was conjectured by Grigori Olshanski that the maximal and typical dimensions of the isotypic components of the tensor representations accept similar asymptotic bounds. We will discuss a proof of the conjecture which is based on studying limit shapes of Young diagrams which parametrise the isotypic components.
